Northwest Computer Support, Inc.
A Tradition of Quality Since 1977
Northwest Computer Support began as the Beaverton Byte Shop in 1977. Back then, the service center was managed by Ian Guyer and owned by the Byte Shop. In the beginning the repairs were not Hewlett Packard or Compaq, but rather Atari, Apple, NorthStar, Processor Technology, Alpha Micro - and computers were purchased as kits.
As demand for computer service grew, so did Northwest Computer Support. The Seattle shop was opened in 1980, followed by the Eugene shop in 1981. When the Beaverton Byte Shop moved to Portland in 1984, the service department broke off and began servicing new computer dealers in the Portland area. In 1986 the mini-computer division was sold to a California company - at which time the micro-computer division was purchased by Ian (Skip) Guyer. With a focus concentrated on microcomputers and peripherals, the company grew at an astounding rate.
In 1990 Skip sold the Seattle location to two brothers, both of whom had previously worked for the company.
In 2005 Skip sold the Oregon operations to Ross Blair and Leslie Barnekoff. Ross has been with Northwest Computer Support since 2000 as a network engineer, and Leslie since 1982 as service manager. Today Northwest Computer Support is not solely a computer and printer repair shop, but also a resource for business technologies. Northwest Computer Support has evolved with the computer industry and is today a leader in computer and network service in the Pacific Northwest.
